Psychiatric Evaluation and Diagnosis

Understanding what you are experiencing starts with a thorough evaluation. Initial psychiatric evaluations typically last 60–90 minutes, allowing time to explore your current concerns, symptoms, medical and psychiatric history, medications, sleep, lifestyle, and other factors that may be affecting your mental health.

From there, we work together to develop a clear understanding of your symptoms and create an individualized treatment plan.

Medication Management

Medication can be an important part of treatment, but we believe it should be prescribed thoughtfully and monitored carefully. When medication is appropriate, we discuss the potential benefits, risks, side effects, and alternatives so you can make an informed decision about your care.

Early in treatment, follow-up appointments are typically scheduled every 2–4 weeks to evaluate your response, side effects, symptoms, and overall progress. As treatment becomes more stable, visits generally transition to monthly follow-up.

ADHD Evaluation and Management

ADHD deserves a careful evaluation rather than a quick checklist and prescription. We assess current symptoms, childhood and educational history, daily functioning, previous diagnoses and treatment, sleep, mood, anxiety, substance use, and other conditions that can contribute to difficulties with attention and executive functioning.

When appropriate, previous records or additional testing may be requested to help establish an accurate diagnosis. Treatment is individualized and may include medication, behavioral strategies, executive-functioning support, lifestyle interventions, or a combination of approaches. Controlled medications, including stimulants, are prescribed only when there is a clear clinical indication following an appropriate evaluation.

Not Sure If We’re the Right Fit?

As an outpatient practice dedicated to adult psychiatric care, Solace Psychiatry does not handle crisis care, inpatient admissions, IOP/PHP programs, legal/forensic evaluations, complex substance withdrawal, or care for minors. Should your journey require more intensive treatment, we’ll guide you toward appropriate, high-quality resources.

We believe mental health care works best when aligned. If you need therapy in addition to medication management, Solace Psychiatry works hand-in-hand with licensed therapists. We collaborate and communicate closely—ensuring you feel fully supported across your whole care team.
